CHRISTIAN FRUERGAARD

Christian graduated from Copenhagen school of Physiotherapy in 2001 having acquired a special interest in Pilates and rehabilitative physiotherapy.  After graduation he located to Ireland where he worked in Waterford Regional Hospital gaining a broad experience in ward and outpatient rehabilitation. Whilst working in Ireland he also completed his mat Pilates’ certification.

In 2003 he took up a position in NHS Mayday University Hospital in London where he gained wide experience in Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Trauma and Orthopaedics and the rehabilitation of complex spinal patients. Whilst in the UK Christian continued his education in Pilates and incorporated Pilates into his physiotherapy practice.

After 6 years in the UK Christian returned to Ireland in 2009 to work in private practice and in 2011, he founded The Pilates Room in Thomond Park Stadium. It was here that he pioneered the Back Specific Pilates program. In 2016 he opened a second studio in Castletroy.

Today he looks after a wide range of clients including; pre and post-operative orthopaedic cases knee/hip replacements and spinal surgical cases. Furthermore, he has a keen interest in sports injury prevention, and he trains a number of top level athletes from different fields; running, golf, hurling and rugby.

 

AOIFE O’BRIEN

Aoife graduated with a BA and MA in Dance performance from the University of Limerick. It was during her time there that Aoife grew her passion for Pilates and yoga. After graduating her MA she went on to get her mat & reformer certification in Pilates.

Aoife went on to teach in the University of Limerick on the dance programs where she teaches regular dance, Pilates and yoga classes to the dance students in the BA and MA programs.

Aoife is also a certified yoga and barre instructor and in 2020 she got her pink ribbon Pilates certification, for breast cancer rehabilitation post op. She also completed Pilates comprehensive training with BASI Pilates.

Aoife has been part of the team at The Pilates Room since 2018.

 

CHARLOTTE KEOGH

Charlotte is an experienced Pilates instructor and specialises in Pre / Postnatal Exercise.

She has been supporting clients through her teaching over the past 11 years with the main overriding goal – to help them become a healthier and happier version of themselves through movement. She completed her comprehensive Pilates training with Polestar UK in 2017. And she has been part of the Pilates Room team since 2015.
Charlotte practices what she preaches, with a regular Pilates practice to support her hobbies of Crossfit, Hiking and Running.
